IEEE - VBIT Student Branch was officially established on 18th December, 2006 under IEEE Hyderabad Section with the objective of promoting technical excellence, professional development, leadership and student engagement within the institution. Since our inception, we have maintained a strong legacy of consistent IEEE activities, volunteerism and institutional impact aligned with IEEE standards and values. Our Student Branch received the “Outstanding Student Branch Award” and the “IEEE Vibrant Student Branch Award” for the year 2009-10, same tenure our Chairperson, Chaitanya Kumar Setti, became the first Section Student Representative (SSR) for IEEE Hyderabad Section, initiating a remarkable legacy in which four consecutive Section Student Representatives (Karthik Siddavaram, Bharath and Prateek) emerged from IEEE - VBIT SB leadership and former Chairperson's.
We actively focus on building a sustainable student community that supports technical advancement, professional growth, leadership development and organizational excellence. We currently operate multiple active organizational units including IEEE Computer Society, IEEE Communications Society, IEEE Power & Energy Society and IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group. Our flagship initiative - "Avishkar", initiated in 2011, recently completed its successful 18th edition as Avishkar 2K26, conducted exclusively for freshman engineering students of VBIT. We consistently organize technical programs, outreach initiatives, competitions and professional activities that support student development and strengthen IEEE engagement within the institution.
In 2025-26 tenure, IEEE - VBIT SB achieved the highest funding received in our 19+ year history, securing more than "$1650"across societies and affinity groups. Our Student Branch further strengthened its recognition when our Chairperson,Shiva Sai Nath Munavathu. He also received the “Outstanding WIE Student Volunteer Award - 2025” from IEEE India Council. A strong commitment toward impactful activities, technical engagement, professional ethics and leadership development. We continue to maintain an active presence within IEEE Hyderabad Section and IEEE India Council while contributing toward the development of future engineering professionals.
